Description
This framed graphic art print is a reproduction of a vintage 18th-century botanical illustration but in crimson color. It is inscribed with text “To Her Royal Highness, Princess of Wales This Plate is most humbly Inscribe’d” and instead of seal there is a picture of palm fruit in the left corner. The original illustration is from the first half of the 18th century and the mentioned Princess of Wales is Augusta of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, married to Frederick, Prince of Wales. He was very interested in landscape and botany. He started planting of exotic plants on his grounds, building a basis for the later Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.
