Description
In this intricately drawn piece of art, the main focus is on the primrose, or as it is known in Latin, Primula Vulgaris. The primrose is one of the earliest blooming spring flowers in most of Europe, and, as the name implies, primrose in old French primerose means first rose.
With a basal rosette of leaves which are more-or-less evergreen, the delicately scented flowers rise up on short slender stems. This herbarium drawing is so lifelike it provides an appearance as if the plant itself has been preserved under glass. The calming tan color will not overpower any other art but will enhance it, particularly if paired with other items from the same collection.
