Description
This piece of coastal wall art, originally published in Edward Donovan’s “Naturalist Repository” in 1822, displays both a sea urchin and a sand dollar on an aged white background. The aged white background brings a sense of age to the piece and serves as a reminder of the drawing’s scientific origins. This piece of luxurious wall decor was originally drawn as a scientific depiction of these sea creatures, but our artists were inspired by their beautiful teal coloration and enhanced the original image by pairing together two objects of the same color but completely designs. The pairing of a simple shape with little detail and a complex shape with large amounts of texture and depth creates a harmony within the piece that is sure to be enjoyed by enthusiasts of fine art and underwater life alike.
