Description
This beautifully framed piece of art is a map of Waco, Texas, from 1892. It shows a panorama of the town that, at that time, was flourishing because of the 475-foot brick Waco Suspension Bridge, which was completed years earlier. While this map serves as a wonderful insight into the history of Texas, the additional illustrations found at the bottom of the map, together with the index of the points of interest, as well as the church directory, add charm to the composition. In the true form of “bird’s eye view maps” of that era, the map also showcases street patterns, individual buildings, and major landscape features.
